A while ago before my most recent visit to Korea in April, a girl working at a makeup counter at my own work and I got into a conversation about balancing keeping skin clear and wearing makeup everyday. Her answer to me was (as a trained beautician), using an oil based cleanser before you’re normal foam cleanser to deep cleanse all the days oils from makeup away. At the time however I was a little bit reluctant to believe her because of course good skin is actually the result of a clean diet, water and the sad truth, what time of the month it is or if you have the contraceptive pill keeping your hormones calm. But being in Korea and of course stocking up on all the goods, I decided to pick up Banila co’s “clean in ZERO” cleansing balm. The cleansing balm definitely was not the oil cleanser in which my friend Tanya from Mecca persuaded me into trying, but the popularity of this cleansing balm in Korea made me pick one up at the store for 18,000 won (apx $20 aud).

Recently going off the pill, I most definitely have been experiencing bad skin which recently urged me to try making sure after my long days of having makeup on my face to thoroughly insure that my skin is makeup free. With the combination of using this cleansing balm to melt away all my makeup (it literally melts away) and using tea tree oil foam cleanser I have noticed a considerable difference to the state of my skin.

TONER

The most important part of beauty has always been clean skin for as long as beauty has existed. If you’re like me and wear makeup every day, or even if you only cake it on on a night out make sure you find yourself at the end of every night in front of your sink oil cleansing, foam cleansing and toning or even if that’s too hard just foam cleansing and toning.

These literally cost two dollars from any grocery, chemist, Kmart. My personal favourite toner that I still use today is my wonderpore from a korean cosmetic brand called Etude House. It costs approximately 20$ AUD, and surprisingly actually lasts.

The way that toning works

1. Drench your cotton pad with toner of choice

2. With upward swiping motions across your face start to wipe away excess dirt from makeup and oils from the day

3. Use both sides of the cotton pad and I can guarantee you that you will see dirt.

You also don’t have to be a girl for cleaning your skin to be relevant to you. 🙂
